To a woman whom I don’t know
Today is stricken with nostalgia and pictures actively invigorate nostalgia. Susan Sontag believes that photography is a mourning art and most part of the subjects that are photographed are covered in a kind of sorrow. The pictures, especially those of the individuals affect emotions and fantasy. As time passes, family pictures turn into a historical document that can be a pretext for historical and sociological studies.
The following collection is the result of my encounter with family pictures of a strange woman which were bought from a German vendor and one of my friends gave me them. A woman whom I did not know but at first look at her pictures I wept involuntary. The pictures called me to fantasize about the woman’s life and I told her life story for myself. Sometimes I feel identification of her and sometimes I was jealous of him. I experienced the story of life and mortality of human beings with combination of different objects thought the pictures of this mysterious woman. And now for some time past, I live with the woman whom I did not know.
